What a production!  Ten workers and four industrial vehicles showed up to first perform demolition and removal of two top layers of asphalt on my cracked and deteriorated driveway.  After sealing off the bottom two layers with tar, the crew returned  four days later to add three inches of premium grade (6F) asphalt, which is used for commercial and municipal parking lots receiving heavy traffic.  Mr. La Rocca, himself, was the foreman of the crew, and he actively supervised the delivery and hand grooming of the asphalt as work progressed along my extensive semicircular driveway with its side extension.  Mr. La Rocca and sometimes his son personally operated the roller truck, while Mrs. La Rocca hosed down the newly compressed asphalt.  This was truly a family operation, and the teamwork shows. Outdoor Milling

Milling asphalt is an environmentally friendly and very cost-effective way to repair asphalt.  Although appearing by sight and touch to be tough, asphalt can quickly wear down due to weather, and sunlight.  

The milling process consists of using a milling machine to scrape off the top layer of asphalt to a specific depth.  Once the asphalt is scraped off the remaining asphalt is swept clean, and an asphalt tack emulsion is applied.  Asphalt tack is a glue that is activated by heat.  

Once the tack is laid down a new layer of asphalt is paved over the milled surface, compacted, and striped.  All “millings” that are loaded into trucks from the milling machine are brought back to the asphalt plant to be made into new asphalt.

If you have an area of pavement that’s in need of resurfacing or repaving, we can skip the time, effort, and cost required for creating new asphalt and instead, repair it using existing asphalt.

Depending on the state of your pavement, we can remove one to several inches of the surface, then use that pavement to create aggregate, mix it with a binder, and create fresh pavement for your area.
