Nestled in the heart of Hartsdale, New York, Hart's Brook Park and Preserve offers visitors a serene retreat into nature's embrace. Spanning approximately 123 acres, this preserve combines rich history with diverse ecosystems, making it a cherished destination for hikers, birdwatchers, and families alike.
A Glimpse into History
The origins of Hart's Brook Park trace back to 1932 when Henry Gaisman, founder of the Gillette Safety Razor Company, acquired the land. Gaisman and his wife, Catherine, resided on the estate until their respective passings in 1974 and 1995. In 1999, through collaborative efforts by New York State, Westchester County, and the Town of Greenburgh, 124 acres of the property were preserved for public enjoyment. Today, remnants of the Gaisman Estate, including greenhouses, a warming hut, and a barn, still grace the landscape, offering visitors a tangible connection to the past.
